This 1997 article comes from Transgender Tapestry (originally named The TV-TS Tapestry) which began in 1995. The article below acts as a sort of FAQ (frequently asked questions) about "Female 2 (to) Male" individuals.
"F2M" was a commonly found abbreviation to describe what in modern times we would call "trans men". It could also be used alongside "FTM" (Female to Male). In this article there is also the frequent use of the less-commonly used term "transgenderist", an early form of the term "transgender". The 1990s were around the time "transgender" entered popular usage, even though it had been coined as early as the 1960s.
